The first time she held Jordan in her arms, it was “love at first sight” for foster mother Ingeborg McIntosh, and she decided she would do everything in her power to adopt him. She had no idea that he would one day repay her for her love in a beautiful way right when she needed it most.

The McIntosh family had cared for 125 foster children over the years, but none of them touched Ingeborg’s heart like Jordan did.

Though Jordan was raised in Ingeborg’s home, his birth mother refused to let her adopt him because she wanted him to be adopted by black parents.

However, no home for Jordan could be found, so Ingeborg was finally allowed to adopt him when he was 4 years-old.

“He was a part of the family, no matter what,” she said.

Twenty years later, Ingeborg was told by doctors that she had polycystic kidney disease and needed a kidney transplant. Jordan could not stand to watch his mother suffer, so he decided to take action.

Jordan immediately went to see if he was a match for his mother, and he learned that he was.

“I feel like this was my calling in life, I guess,” Jordan said. “Hopefully I can do more for her as I get older, but for the moment, it’s the least I could do.”

Ingeborg begged Jordan not to go through with the transplant, but he already had made up his mind. She had loved him when nobody else did, and now he wanted to repay her by doing everything he could to save her life.

“Everything she’s done for me since I was a kid, I just wanted to give it back to her, and show her how much I appreciate her,” Jordan said.
