Weddings are a time of joy and celebration, but unfortunately, these special occasions can be ruined by events that take place before the wedding planning even begins. Fortunately, for one bride, she shed plenty of tears during her wedding, but it was for all the right reasons.

The day was perfect on October 14 when it was time for the big celebration. The bride was radiantly beautiful and the groom was beyond happy. The weather was gorgeous, but still, something was missing. Mikayla Wroten had lost her father in the line of duty ten years prior to her wedding day.

Her father was a probation officer and Marine veteran who was attempting to stop a man on a crowded city street. The suspect ran away and jumped into the Ohio River some 10 to 15 feet below the bridge he leaped from. David, her father, attempted to jump in after him, but he never resurfaced. His body was found the next day.

So when her special day arrived, Mikayla knew she had to honor her dad, so she carried a bouquet that contained a medallion that had been inscribed with the words, “Walk with me today, Daddy.” What she didn’t know is there would be bigger, better homage to her dad later that day.

As the traditional father-daughter dance began, Mikayla couldn’t imagine what was happening. She had danced with her step-father already and her father wasn’t there. With some extra special planning though, a steady stream of officers made their way to Mikayla’s side.

They wanted the event to go off without a hitch, and they let her know that her daddy really was by her side. Mikayla was so shocked and appreciated their efforts so much that she burst into tears when she realized what they were doing.

This touching display moved not only Mikayla, but her new husband Dakota, and all of the people that were lucky enough to witness the occasion. Watch the amazing video below and be sure to share this touching story with your friends.
