Bailey Murrill was goofing around with her dad in their back yard. They were just horse playing, but somehow Bailey flipped over her dad’s shoulders and landed on her back. She instantly had no feeling in her legs from the hips down.

It was the spring of 2015 and just weeks before her senior prom. Bailey was rushed from her home in Denton, Texas, to the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas where the then 17-year-old remained paralyzed for almost two weeks.

The teen says it was her family and their strong faith that allowed her to struggle through what seemed like endless rounds of physical therapy. She says they never allowed her to lose her faith in God and they put everything in His hands.

The chance Bailey’s doctors gave her of ever being able to walk again was less than five percent. Miraculously, they were wrong. The feeling in her legs started coming back in just 11 days. When she realized that she could walk again, she decided she wanted to surprise one of her favorite nurses.

In the video, you will see Bailey as she wheels down the hallway toward a group of nurses. One of them walks towards her with arms wide open expecting to give her young patient a hug.

Instead, Bailey stands up and the nurse screams and runs to pull Bailey into a huge bear hug while yelling, “Yes! Thank you Lord!”

Bailey’s mom, Becky, got the whole event on video and it was just weeks later that her daughter was getting dressed up for prom. “Two weeks ago I got told I had a five percent chance of ever walking again, and now I’m at prom,” said Bailey. “It’s awesome!”
