When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle exchanged vows, Meghan seemed to have mastered her newly royal demeanor. However, there were a few instances where we got a glimpse of her genuine excitement. As the newlywed couple rode through the streets of Windsor in a horse-drawn carriage, the perfect princess was caught even a bit overwhelmed at times.

Much to the delight of the world, those special moments were caught on film. During the big smiles and polite waves we saw a glimpse of what an amazing royal Meghan will surely be. It is, of course, refreshing to see such honest and real moments during such a formal event.

One of the moments was when Meghan spotted her high school theology teacher among the crowd. Maria Pollia, from Immaculate Heart High School recalls hearing about Meghan’s engagement to Prince Harry and thinking that he was one very lucky man.

Although it’s been 20 years since Meghan walked through the halls of the all-girl Catholic school, her teachers remember her as a deeply caring student that was mature beyond her years. They say that she was deeply compassionate and had an exceptionally bright personality.

It wasn’t just the teachers that were affected by their time with Meghan. The Duchess of Sussex recalls a conversation about working at a soup kitchen in Skid Row of Los Angeles. She taught her that life is about putting others’ needs above your own fears. After that conversation, Meghan returned to the soup kitchen multiple times, not just to serve food, but to get to know the people there.

Now that Meghan has married into the royal family to a man that has spent years doing charity and service work, Pollia says she is excited about the impact the couple will have on the world. She says it is obvious that this type of work fuels the couple and brings them joy. Together they will be able to do amazing things.
