In case you haven’t heard, one of the biggest events of 2018 happened last weekend. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were married on Saturday, May 19, making them the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The newly wed Duchess of Sussex made an appearance Saturday evening before her second wedding reception in a gown designed by Stella McCartney. McCartney is the daughter of Paul McCartney and her designs combine traditional femininity with Savile Row-quality tailoring.

Since beginning her label in 2011, McCartney has advocated sustainable fashion and rejects the use of leather and fur in her designs. She says it is the way she was brought up, but that point of view is in line with Markle’s beliefs as well.

Markle and Prince Harry requested donation to charities, including two environmental groups, in lieu of gifts. Several of the guests at Saturday’s ceremony arrived wearing McCartney creations, including Oprah Winfrey and Amal Clooney.

The Duke and Duchess left Windsor Castle in a silver-blue Jaguar E-Type on their way to an evening reception hosted by Harry’s father, Prince Charles. Harry opted out of his wedding attire and changed into a traditional black tie instead of the military dress he wore for the wedding.

Meghan’s gown featured a high neck and was made of silk crepe. She paired the dress with satin heels designed by Aquazzura. Her hair was styled by London-based stylist George Northwood.

Around 200 close friends and family were invited to the Frogmore House for the evening reception. Kensington Palace announced that Meghan would make a speech at the event, quite an unusual thing to take place at such an event. The honor is usually reserved for the groom, best man, and father of the bride.
