Whenever two Hollywood stars get married, it seems like they inevitably end up getting divorced within just a few years. That’s what makes it so unusual that the marriage of Hollywood stars Mark Harmon and Pam Dawber has stood the test of time and lasted thirty years!

Somehow, “NCIS” star Mark and “Mork and Mindy” actress Pam found a way to make their marriage last in Hollywood, and Pam just spoke out to reveal the secret behind their success.

Pam recently gave a rare interview in which she explained that the success of her marriage is due to the fact that she left the spotlight while her husband Mark continued acting in Hollywood.

“I don’t think two people can work all the time in show business and stay married,” she said.

Pam went on to say that though she loved acting, her priorities completely changed when she became a mother. Once she had her children, nothing else mattered to her besides raising them.

“I was in a number one show. I had my own deal. I got to do Broadway. I got to do musical theater. I got to do cartoon voices,” Pam said. “I did everything you can do in this business, and then I had children and it’s like, ‘I’m not going to chase this fame thing.'”

“I wanted to drive my kids to school. I wanted to be there for their birthdays and bring cupcakes and donuts and do the school festivals and all that, and I did. I got to teach in their art class and so it was a different life then and I was very happy to do it,” she continued. “I’m just their mom. They don’t care about what I did. They care about what they are doing. They want their parents to care about what they are doing. Their father is already iconic enough for two boys. I am just the mom.”

Pam went on to say that the other key to a Hollywood marriage lasting is staying out of the tabloids. True or not, one nasty rumor can have a ripple effect that destroys an entire marriage.

“Notice you don’t see us in the magazines. When you’re married, that’s real life. And to go and plaster your kids… I’m sorry. I’m not for that,” she said.

Some may find it offensive that Pam gave up her career for her marriage, but we think her priorities are exactly where they should be! Clearly, she is doing something right, because her marriage is still going strong thirty years in!
