Many of us are ecstatic that spring is finally here along with the warm weather we have missed all winter. However, one of the most annoying aspects of spring are the fleas who latch onto our pets and make their lives miserable!

Products to get rid of fleas can be very expensive, but we have some very good news for you: we have just found a homemade flea repellent that you can make yourself very easily and cheaply!

All you need to make this repellent are these ingredients:

  • Small Pot
  • Spray bottle with a good mister (you don’t want one that only squirts)
  • Small funnel
  • Large lemon, sliced
  • 1-bunch fresh lavender, or 1 Tblsp. dried
  • 2-Cups of water
  • 2-Tblsp. of Non-alcoholic Witch Hazel

Place all of your ingredients in the pot except for the Witch Hazel. Place the pot over medium to medium-high heat and let simmer for roughly 30 minutes, or until the water starts to turn light purple from the lavender. Once you remove it from the heat, allow it to cool down for a bit. The smell of the mixture will spread throughout your entire house and make it smell AMAZING!

Once the repellent has cooled down, pour it through a fine-meshed strainer. You can get rid of your lavender and lemon remnants by throwing them in the trash.

Once you have done this, add the Witch Hazel to the mixture and give it a good stir to really get it in there. Then, using a funnel, pour the mixture into a spray bottle, and you are good to go!

Instead of buying expensive flea repellent this year, just make your own at home!
