There are tons of expensive beauty products out there that promise to make you look better and younger. However, there are some simple life hacks that can have this exact same effect on you for a fraction of the price, which is why these beauty companies don’t want you to know about them.

We have compiled a list of ten hacks that will help you look your best without spending lots of money on beauty products. Scroll through these hacks, and see which one of them could work for you!

Sunscreen: Everyone knows that a bit of sun is good for your complexion, but the beauty industry never tells you how necessary sunscreen is. Cosmetics expert Mamie McDonald says that it is impossible to achieve a good complexion without using sunscreen, and it is best use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.

Use an ice cube on your skin: Santa Monica dermatologist Dr. Ava Shamban says that using an ice cube on your skin will keep your complexion from looking dull. Just rubbing the cube on your skin for a few seconds can stimulate circulation and help your skin grow.

Clean everything that touches your skin: Dr. Harold Lancer advises that you should be cleaning every object that comes in contact with your face, especially your phone! You would never touch your face with dirty hands, so why touch it with something else that is dirty? You should also be changing your pillow case at least once a week, and do it every three days if your skin is oily.

Drink more water: Debbie Strong, senior health editor at Everyday Health, says that there is nothing better you can do for your skin than drink water. Staying hydrated will moisturize your skin and give it the same glow that expensive skin creams promise. Drinking water will also boost your metabolism and increase your energy.

Do not use scrubs or sponges: Skincare specialist Christie Kidd says that people who have acne should never use scrubs or sponges, since they irritate the skin and cause more inflammation. Instead, you should use a water-and-aspirin paste on your face.

Do not use powder: Freelance style and beauty editor Ingrid Schmidt warns that women over the age of 35 should not wear any powder, as it will settle into the wrinkles around your eyes and mouth and will instantly age your skin.

Don’t go to bed with makeup on: Going to bed with your makeup still on will block your pores and cause inflammation, so always clean your face thoroughly before going to bed.

Take your bra off before bed: When you get home after a long night, it’s easy to just fall into bed with your bra still on, but this is bad because keeping the bra on cuts the blood circulation. It also can irritate your skin, with the skin under the straps of the bra becoming darkened.

Spray Toner: Eva Scrivo, owner of New York City Salon, says that you should lightly spritz your face with toner then pat it with a tissue to sop up oil and refresh your makeup.

Blush will never fail you: Nothing can make you look more awake and alive than blush. Marie Claire magazine says that if you are rushing out the door and don’t have time to put on a full face of makeup, simply put some blush on and it will do the trick!
