When Faust, the K-9 police officer, climbed into the squad car with Senior Special Agent Bryan Schaffer, it was just another day at work for the police dog. What he didn’t know is, today would be his last day before joining the ranks as a retired K-9.

The duo had worked together for eight years and one day as certified Explosive Detection and Patrol officers. They had responded to hundreds of calls over the years, but today was going to be much different than usual.

This day was Faust’s last call of duty and the bittersweet moment was caught on camera. Officer Schaffer sent out the K-9’s last call and the emotional response will have you in tears, just like it did the K-9’s faithful handler

.

After the final send off, Schaffer took to his Facebook page and said, “Thank you for getting us both home safe after every shift.” The duo obviously have a strong bond that Schaffer will miss as he continues with his active duties.

We’re happy that Faust will get to spend the rest of his life in peace as a retired K-9, and thank him for his duty. Check out his final send off in the heartwarming video below and be sure to share it with your friends.
