The wedding of the year took place this last Saturday at Windsor Castle and there were plenty of celebrities that came out to help the royal couple celebrate their wedding in style. Among the celebrities that came were George and Amal Clooney, David and Victoria Beckham, Oprah Winfrey, and more.

The guest list for the wedding had remained a bit of a secret, but as the 600 guests with invitations began arriving at the wedding, the secret was no longer. Many guests chose beautiful, brightly colored attire ranging from lilac and amethyst to energetic, canary yellow. Figure hugging silhouettes were a favorite among the female guests.

George and Amal Clooney were among the first guests to arrive with Amal choosing a golden yellow gown designed by Stella McCartney. English soccer star David Beckham and his wife Victoria came shortly after. Their connections with the royal family are well known and they attended the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011.

Priyanka Chopra, the winner of Miss World 2000, was also in attendance wearing a Vivienne Westwood dress and a Philip Treacy hat. Chopra is a friend of Markle. Another friend of Markle’s, Janina Gavankar also made appearance.

Oprah Winfrey wore a blush, double tiered dress by Stella McCartney and a hat by designer Philip Treacy. She sat in the front of the chapel with members of the royal family and other people that are close to the couple.

Elton John, a close friend of the family who sang at Princess Diana’s funeral, attended the event with his husband David Furnish. Another English singer, James Blunt, arrived with his girlfriend Sofia Wellesley. Singer Joss Stone, actor Tom Hardy, and actress Carey Mulligan were also among the guests.

Sports celebrities at the event included tennis star Serena Williams who wore a pink Versace dress; Clive Woodward, the former coach of England’s men’s national rugby team; and Jonny Wilkinson, star of the Woodward-coached English team that won the Rugby World Cup in 2003.

Queen Elizabeth arrived with Prince Phillip shortly before the ceremony began wearing a delicately flared dress in lime, purple, lemon, and gray with an edge-to-edge coat with a frogging fastening in lime silk tweed by Stuart Parvin. She wore an Angela Kelly hat that featured the same lime silk tweed.

Prince Charles wore a morning coat tailored by Anderson & Sheppard to walk Markle down the Quire aisle. His wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, wore an ice pink feathered Philip Treacy hat. The Queen’s younger three children, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward, were also in attendance.

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, arrived with the bridal party wearing a Philip Treacy hat and Jimmy Choo shoes. She wore a primrose yellow wool silk coat by Alexander McQueen. Middleton’s parents, Michael and Carol, as well as her sister Pippa and her husband James were also in attendance.

The custom of wearing a hat, or fascinator, is a long-standing tradition that goes on full display during a royal wedding. Friends, guests, and family turned out for the event in an array of hats, some crafted by the world’s leading milliners.

Many guests arrived wearing three dimensional sculptural shapes with many of them going for bold styles that combined tradition with contemporary. Among those were Lady Kitty Spencer who arrived wearing a teal green hat with a knotted sculptural feature.

If you weren’t among the people that got up at 4 a.m. to watch the event live, check out this video and be sure to share it with your friends in case they decided to sleep in too.
