As if tattooing your eyes isn’t enough, one doctor has taken his expertise in eye surgery and started performing surgery that inserts jewelry into the eyeball. Ophthalmologist Dr. Emil Chynn claims to be the only surgeon in New York to Perform an eyeball jewelry surgery and only three people in the U.S. have them.
He says the procedure is very safe with no risk of losing vision and hundreds of them have been performed in Europe without any complications. He says the only complication has been minor bruising at the insertion site and that resolves in just a few days.
The implants are made of sterile, medical grade platinum and are polished to remove sharp edges and to conform to the shape of the eye. A small incision is made into the conjunctiva of the eye and the implant is slipped in. No stitches are needed and it heals itself in only one to two days. The procedure takes five minutes and only requires eye drops to numb the eye and is completely painless.

The charge is $10,000 for the original implant, and swapping it out for another implant is $5,000. It can be removed anytime in just three minutes. The jewelry is called “SafeSight” jewelry and Dr. Chynn performs the surgery at Manhattan’s Park Avenue Laser Vision.
The video below shows a very detailed and close up video of the procedure. With 20 years of experience under his belt, Dr. Chynn says the chance of being allergic to the jewelry is minimal and scarring is almost nonexistent.
