The British royal family welcomed it’s newest member on Monday when Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed their third child, a little boy.

Now, proud grandpa Prince Charles has broken his silence about the birth with a comment that shows his legendary self-deprecating humor is still very much intact.

Here’s looking at you…. When, ten years ago, he came to open your beloved Royal Hall, Prince Charles described you as a National Treasure. We burst with pride and welled with tears. Just days later, against all your tremendous will, you left us. But we love and adore you now as much as we ever did, and tonight the gorgeous building you fought so hard to save is thronging with people and music – just as you dreamed it would. And I sit and wonder at how beautiful it is. And you look on through the eyes of the painted goddesses, whose features your adoring team of restorers modelled on yours. And we are together again. #lilianmina #nationaltreasure #ten-years-on-but-some-spirits-never-die #royalhall #harrogate #princecharles #edwardfox #joannadavid #lucyparham #dreamteam

Charles broke with tradition on Tuesday to release a lively statement on behalf of himself and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, welcoming his grandson to the world.

BRF weddings: in waiting for May 19th and October 12th The wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla Parker Bowles took place in a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall, on 9 April 2005. The ceremony, conducted in the presence of the couple’s families, was followed by a Church of England Service of Prayer and Dedication at St George’s Chapel, which incorporated an act of penitence. The groom’s parents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, did not attend the civil wedding ceremony but were present at the Service of Prayer and Dedication and held a reception for the couple in Windsor Castle afterwards. Camilla received an engagement ring composed by one large emerald cut diamond with three other little ones on each side who was a piece owned by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. For the wedding, the Duchess wore a cream-coloured dress and coat with a wide-brimmed cream-coloured hat. For the Service of Prayer and Dedication afterward, she wore a floor-length embroidered pale blue and gold coat over a matching chiffon gown and a dramatic spray of golden feathers in her hair. Both ensembles were by Antonia Robinson and Anna Valentine, London designers who worked under the name Robinson Valentine; both hats were made by the Irish milliner Philip Treacy. The Duchess’s flower bouquet contained daffodils, jasmine, Lily of the Valley, pink and cream lilies, camellias,, and roses which came from the Prince of Wales Highgrove House gardenHighgrove House gardenss. ?????? #PrinceCharles#PrinceOfWales#DukeOfCornwall#DuchessCamilla#DuchessOfCornwall#CamillaDuchessOfCornwall#CamillaParkerBowls#RoyalWedding#BritishRoyals#BritishRoyalFamily#Windsor#Mountbatten#MountbattenWindsor

“We are both so pleased at the news,” Charles said in a statement. “It is a great joy to have another grandchild, the only trouble is I don’t know how I am going to keep up with them.”

It’s clear that Charles is having a great time being a grandpa!

This statement came one day after Kate gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 11:01 hours,” the statement said. “The baby weighs 8lbs., 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.”

Welcome to the world, little one!

Charles was also included in the family’s official royal statement right after the birth.

“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news,” the statement read. “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
