You likely never heard about it, but our nation was nearly rocked by yet another mass shooting last Friday.

Sky Bouche, a 19 year-old former student at Forest High School in Ocala, Florida, showed up at the school last week with a sawed off shotgun hidden in a guitar case. He managed to get into the school and sneak into one of the bathrooms, where he put on a tactical vest and gloves.

Eager to begin his killing spree, Bouche walked out of the bathroom and approached a classroom, but he discovered the door was locked. Undeterred, he shot at the door anyway, injuring a 17 year-old student in the ankle with shrapnel.

As chaos ensued, Bouche dropped his gun and tried to flee by blending in with panicked students. However, teacher Kelly McManis-Panasuk noticed something off about Bouche and confronted him, asking if he had shot the gun, to which he replied that he had.

Meanwhile, School Resource Officer Deputy James Long was running towards where the gunfire had occurred and noticed McManis-Panasuk and Bouche talking. Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods said that Long did not hesitate to run towards the area where he had heard the gunfire.

“He went right in,” Sheriff Woods said.

Long ran up to Bouche and arrested him as the teenager told McManis-Panasuk that he was mentally ill and wanted to be arrested. He has since been charged with terrorism, aggravated assault with a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, culpable negligence, possession of a firearm on school property, possession of a short-barreled shotgun, interference in school property, and armed trespass on school property.

We applaud McManis-Panasuk and Long for their quick thinking in taking action to apprehend this school shooter before he could kill anyone. This story has not been getting very much coverage because there were no fatalities, so please SHARE this so we can spread the word about their heroism!
