“Full House” actor John Stamos has plenty of practice being the cool uncle, but now he says, he’s excited to take on the role of being a dad. He only hopes he can be the father to his son that his own father was to him.

Stamos says his entire life he looked up to his dad. He never grew out of that adoration and thought his dad was larger than life up until his death in 1989. He has done his best since then to make sure his father’s legacy lives on.

The love story between Stamos and his now wife Caitlin McHugh started two years ago, but the couple did their best to keep the relationship as quiet as possible. A few months into their relationship, Stamos dropped a hint on the television show “The View” by mentioning ‘this girl I’m dating.’

About a year and half later, the couple announced their engagement and Stamos revealed how he went about asking Caitlin to marry him. He said they have the same morals and values and just decided that maybe they should have a family. Stamos says it wasn’t long and she told him she was pregnant.

He thought if they were going to start a family, then he definitely should put a ring on her finger because that was the right thing to do. He called her parents and asked for their permission and they informed him that he better marry their daughter. Stamos, without a beat, began planning the proposal.

Stamos pulled out all the stops and asked the 32-year-old Caitlin to marry him while they were vacationing at Disneyland. He had a film clip made of all the most romantic scenes in Disney films and at the end, Sebastian from “The Little Mermaid” says ‘Just ask the girl.’ So he did, and she said yes!

Although Stamos hasn’t revealed details about when his newborn entered the world, he revealed that he had welcomed a son and that his name was Billy after his late father. How sweet is that?

Stamos says his only regret in life is not having children earlier in life so his parents could have met them. Congratulations to the couple on the arrival of their baby boy!
