I’ve been a cat-lover my entire life, and I thought I knew just about every breed in existence. However, we have managed to compile a list of eight cat breeds that even I haven’t heard of, and you’re sure to fall in love with each one!

Anyone who thinks all house cats are the same clearly hasn’t met these felines:

Peterbald

A mix between Oriental Shorthairs and hairless cats, these felines vary in length. They’re best known for their unusual web toes which allow them to pick up objects, and even open doors!

American Curl

These cats are known for having long tails but short ears that resemble those of Mickey Mouse. This unique breed was created when a cat with a rare genetic mutation was bred with other felines, and the result is quite something!

Ukrainian Levkoy

These cats are bald, which is why it’s so ironic that they actually come from one of the coldest places on Earth! A mix of two strange breeds, these cats are known for having numerous odd features, including a dog-like muzzle, curly whiskers, almond-shaped eyes and folded ears.

Munchkins

Named after the small characters in the classic movie “The Wizard of Oz,” these cats are known for having unusually short legs. Their tiny legs resulted from a genetic mutation that has stirred up some controversy in the cat-loving world. Though Munchkin owners claim they do not have issues with mobility, veterinarians say they have deformed spines.

Scottish Fold

This cat breed also started from a genetic mutation, and it has ears that fold forward. Some have described this adorable cat as looking like an owl!

Werewolf Cats

Also known as Lykois, these cats resemble werewolves because the “mask” of colored fur on their face reminds people of Lon Chaney’s most famous film role. These cats are virtually hairless on the rest of their bodies, with tiny patches of hair that grow straight out in certain spots.

Don’t be fooled by their ghoulish appearance, as these cats are known for being extremely friendly!

Khao Manee

Meaning “white gem” in Thai, these cats certainly live up to their name!

These cats are known for their soft coats and glowing gold or blue eyes. In fact, some of the cats even have one eye that is gold while the other is blue! These cats have been famous in Thailand for centuries, but have only just been introduced in the west.

Cornish and Devon Rex

These two similar breeds of cat each are slim and have very short hair. They are known to have wiry bodies and large, veiny ears, and while they don’t have much fur, the Rex’s curly hair is often described as the softest of any cat.
