Lucky is a four-footer dog who was born in a puppy mill with a severe face deformity. None of Lucky’s owners wanted him, and he ended up being tossed from shelter to shelter when nobody could find him a forever home.

None of Lucky’s many owners took care of him, and he often found himself being abused. He finally ended up with a family in Austin, Texas, but because their cats did not like him, he had to stay outside all the time.

The family tied Lucky to a tree, not even giving him enough slack to get to his food or be able to sleep comfortably. When the family had to move, they decided to leave Lucky behind and handed him over to another shelter.

Though the shelter found one family to take him, it wasn’t long before Lucky ended up abandoned at the shelter once again. Just when it seemed like all hope was lost, one social media post changed Lucky’s life forever!

A volunteer posted some photos of Lucky on social media hoping that they would grab the attention of someone who wanted to adopt him. Thankfully, the photos caught the eye of Jamie Hult, who immediately fell in love!

“It just happened to be somebody in my dog rescue world, so right away I contacted him and said ‘I want that dog. I don’t even want to foster it, I wanna take that dog,” Jamie said.

Sadly, by this time, Lucky was malnourished  and was filled with fleas and heartworms. Despite all of his medical problems, Jamie knew she had to have Lucky.

Though Jamie was ecstatic to have Lucky, things were difficult at first.

“He almost didn’t make it,” she recalled. “He was in the oxygen tank for a week. I ended up spending like $8000 dollars for treatment to get an MRI just to see what was going on because he was so infested… He was like skin and bones. It was a touch-and-go and we almost lost him once. I said to my vet, ‘I don’t care – for this particular dog just do whatever you need to and I will pay whatever it is. Don’t hold back.’ And he made it. He’s healthy. He’s in the free and clear.”

Since she was giving Lucky a second chance at life, Jamie decided to give him a new name as well!

“The reason I named him Beaux Tox is because clearly he looks like he needs botox, and that’s okay,” Jamie explained. “We appreciate beauty in all forms. And the dog bills cost me a fortune which is the reason I don’t have botox!”

It’s been over a year now since Jamie took in Beaux Tox, and he has transformed into an active four-footer who loves the water!

“I’m grateful I got Beaux, and we still rescue and foster,” Jamie concluded. “He’s fostered kittens. Beaux Tox is good with anything. He’s good with kittens, baby skunks, cats. He’ll watch the tarantula for an hour. He’s very intrigued by everything… for him, everything is exciting.”

We’re so glad that Beaux Tox is now getting all the love he deserves! SHARE this story so your friends and family can meet this amazing dog as well!
