Even though it might not be the best for us, plenty of people love to take a quick trip through the drive-thru of their local fast food restaurant. Greg and Stacye are no different. They had driven through the McDonald’s in Hermitage, Tennessee, dozens of times. They didn’t expect this trip to be any different.

However, when they ordered their favorite items and the cashier handed over the bag full of food, it was obvious very quickly that it wasn’t just food in their bag. When the couple opened the fast food bag, they were shocked to see what was inside.

The bag was much heavier than usual, and understandably so. It was full of cash and coins. The couple quickly pulled over and took the bag inside the restaurant. The clerk who had made the mistake was frantically trying to figured out what had happened to the deposit she had prepared and was grateful when the couple walked in the door with the bag in hand.

Stacye says they’re not sure exactly how much money was in the bag, but it was a hefty sum. “I could have done some shopping,” she said.

Although it would have been nice to have kept it, the couple did the right thing and returned the cash to the McDonald’s. The chain fast food restaurant issued a statement thanking them for their good deed and honesty. While we like to think that everyone would be honest in this situation, it sometimes doesn’t work out that way.

Kudos to this couple for doing the right thing!
