When Erin and Abby Delaney were born in Pennsylvania conjoined at the head, their parents feared that their lives would never be normal. However, thanks to a team of dedicated surgeons, Erin and Abby will live normal lives that aren’t impacted by the way they were born at all!

When looking at the way Erin and Abby were conjoined, it was obvious that keeping them joined together was not an option for them physically or mentally.

The surgery to separate Erin and Abby would be the most complex one ever performed at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Each girl required her own surgical team, and the surgery included many different procedures designed to ensure they wouldn’t bleed to death and suffer other complications.

Thankfully, the surgery was a resounding success, and Erin and Abby have been separated!

“They’re such happy, content little girls, for what they’ve gone through …They’ve never lived outside of hospital walls,” their mother Heather said.

It has now been five months since the surgery, and Erin and Abby are finally going home! Their mother Heather said that they are developing at a very normal rate, despite everything they have been through.

“They’re not afraid of people …it’s amazing to see how brave they’ve been through all of it,” Heather said.

When they were conjoined, Erin and Abby could not roll around or sit up for their own safety. Now, Erin is sitting up all by herself, and Abby has learned how to roll over!

God bless the doctors who gave these little girls a second chance at life!
