Kaleena Pysher was in the middle of her senior year of high school when she learned she was pregnant with her ex-boyfriend’s baby. Though some people in her life encouraged her to have an abortion, Kaleena instead decided to go forward with her pregnancy and then give her baby up for adoption.

As the months of her pregnancy wore on, Kaleena knew she had made the right decision, as she was giving her baby the best shot at having a good life that she could.

Though millions of women make the same choice that Kaleena did, the Alaska teenager did something right after her baby was born that was very unique. Before handing off her newborn daughter to her adoptive parents, Kaleena had some time to rest with the baby on her chest, and she will treasure the minutes they spent together for the rest of her life.

When Kaleena gave her daughter to her adoptive parents, who were friends with the teenager’s family, she could see how excited they were to have her. However, Kaleena then made the surprising decision to have her daughter be breastfed with her milk for the first few months of her life!

Knowing the many benefits babies get from breast milk, Kaleena wanted to make sure that her daughter’s adoptive parents had enough of her breast milk to keep the baby fed for a long time. Kaleena was able to stockpile enough breast milk to hand over to her baby’s adoptive parents to keep the infant fed for months!
