These days, the internet seems to be dominated by stories that show the negative side of the airline industry. That’s why we wanted to share a story that shows just how compassionate and heroic flight attendants can be.

Registered nurse Sharon Radcliffe was recently flying Delta Airlines from Detroit to Nashville when she saw a flight attendant do something that touched her so much that she had to write about it in a viral Facebook post.

Sharon wrote that when the flight began, she noticed flight attendant Jeffrey Jones of Atlanta, Georgia talking to an elderly female passenger. The woman was shaking, which Sharon knew to be a common symptom of the neurodegenerative Parkinson’s disease.

“He noticed that a lady in coach class had Parkinson’s disease,” Sharon wrote. “And without blinking an eye, he went to her and guided her – by the hand – to a free seat in first class! Like WHAT???? A colleague of mine who was also on the flight, helped him get her into first class.”

And Jeffrey didn’t stop there! Sharon said that the flight attendant checked on the women repeatedly during the flight, and she realized he had brought her to first class so that he could keep a better eye on her.

“For the ENTIRE flight I could see him checking in on her, patting her back. helping her get up, walking her (holding hands) up and down the aisle and generally ‘mother hen-ing’ her,” Sharon wrote.

Since she is a nurse herself, Sharon offered to assist the flight attendant with the woman, but Jeffrey wouldn’t hear of it.

“I asked him if he needed help taking her to the bathroom; he told me ‘I GOT THIS’! He told me his grandmother had Parkinson’s and that he was all good, but that he very much appreciated my offer for help,” she recounted, adding that this moved her to tears.

“When I got off the plane, this is what I told Jeffrey. ‘I am a nurse, and I am so impressed with how you took care of that lady. My mother is a very young 70 years old and is a newly diagnosed Parkinson’s patient. I hope one day someone treats her as well as you treated that lady!’” she wrote.

Sharon’s story quickly went viral, as the entire world was touched by what Jeffrey did. Delta was so amazed by Jeffrey’s compassion that they used him in their corporate communications to showcase how their employees go above and beyond for their customers.

SHARE this story with your loved ones to show them that there are flight attendants who are compassionate and caring like Jeffrey!
