Princess Diana was known for the compassion and kindness she showed to people in need all over the world. Now, her beloved son Prince William is carrying on her legacy in a way that would surely bring a tear to her eye.

When Diana married Prince Charles, she immediately knew that she wanted to be more hands-on than most royals when it came to helping the needy, and she passed this trait down to her two sons.

About Diana: “She felt the lid was closing in on her. Unlike other women, she didn’t have the freedom to leave with her children.”

Though it’s been over two decades since Diana died, William is still using the skills she taught him in carrying out his royal duties. In June of last year, William dropped everything to meet with victims of the Grenfell Tower Fire in North Kensington, which destroyed public flats and killed 71 people and left 70 injured.

After meeting with the victims and giving them his condolences, William did something that broke royal protocol just to help them. As one woman talked to William, she fell against him crying as she said “I can’t find my husband.”

The woman’s husband was believed to have been in an elevator when the fire broke out, and she had not been able to find him in the wake of the tragedy. As she clung to William sobbing, he broke royal protocol by embracing her back. Hugging people publicly is strictly against the rules of the royal family, but William didn’t give a hoot about protocol: in that moment, all he cared about was comforting this woman in need.

THIS is the young man Diana raised! Somewhere in Heaven, Princess Diana is one proud mother right now!
