There’s something really neat taking place around the world, and if you’re lucky enough to find them on the internet these amazing photos are definitely fun to look at. Some of them happen by accident, but others are intentional recreations. They are pics that people have taken recreating pictures of their grandparents from decades ago, sometimes even before they were born. Check out these one of a kind images and see if you can see the resemblance.

Stepping Into His Grandpa’s Footsteps

This man’s grandfather fought in World War II in Pleurtuit, France. He inserted himself into the photograph, as well as a bit of the present day town into the 1944 photograph. How crazy is that? With a war going on, it’s probably a good thing that he wasn’t really there with his grandfather in 1944.

Studying at the University

This young student at the University of Hitotsubashi wanted to recreate one of his favorite photos of his grandfather as he was studying as a teen at the university. Right before the grandson turned 20, he decided to take a photograph of him studying just like his grandpa was decades before him.

“I Do”

This happy bride recreated one of many of her grandparents wedding photographs from their 1954 wedding. The bride is being pulled down the city street in her wedding gown in a little red wagon. The bride thought it would be fun to take a picture just like her grandparents, so her groom pulled her down the same street in 2017 wearing her wedding gown. How cute is that?

Back to Italy  

This is another young man who visited the same place his grandfather fought during World War II, only this time, he retraced his grandfather’s steps to Florence, Italy. His grandfather sat on the wall alongside the Arno River in 1944, and this young man sat in the exact same place in 2014. You can even see some of the same buildings in the background.

Playing On the Swingset

When this man’s grandmother passed away, he went through old pictures to bring back some treasured memories. He found one of his grandfather picking him up to play on the swingset. He decided to recreate the same photograph with his old children. It looks like fun was had by all involved.

Training In the Same Place

Exactly 100 years apart, this man and his grandpa went through military training in the exact same place. In the photos you can see both men standing by their military vehicles, but how different their uniforms and vehicles look. He says his grandpa was deployed to France shortly after the photograph was taken in 1917.

A Day at the Zoo

Dinosaurs were alive hundreds of years ago, but this dinosaur statute at a zoo is at least 69 years old. The photo shows two young boys on the same dinosaur. The grandfather’s picture was taken 69 years ago. The only difference is the current child preferred the right horn over the left.
