Owls fascinate us. They’re big, majestic, and seem to look right through you with their big inquisitive eyes. It’s no wonder that Curbie the owl has fascinated people across the web as they watch him take a spray bottle bath at the hands of his owner.

In the video below, Curbie flies to his owner for a quick drink of water from the spray bottle, but before you know it, his drink has become a full blown bath. While owls raised in captivity can be sweet and good-natured, it’s important to remember that even when kept in captivity, owls are still large birds of prey and can be very dangerous.

Curbie doesn’t appear to be dangerous at all, especially when his owner obliges him with a full bath. After a few spritzes to the face, and a few drinks of the sprayed water, Curbie raises and spreads out his wings to get a more thorough bath.

If Curbie lived in the wild, he would have stood in a shallow puddle of water and flapped his wings to get the water covering his entire body. Once wet, in the wild, owls will shake off the excess water and then preen their feathers. This was Curbie’s domesticated version of a bath.

Everything seems to be going great with Curbie’s bath as he spreads his wings to get soaked with the water until his mom makes one mistake. Curbie turns his back to her and she sprays his backside. Curbie must have decided at that point he’d had enough because he flies away to finish his preening out of the reach of the spray bottle.

Curbie is indeed a spectacular sight to see, not just in his natural beauty, but in the way he interacts with his owner.
