Children often feel like rules are meant to be broken, and one little girl just proved that when she showed up for school at Jefferson Elementary School with something hidden in her backpack that she definitely was not supposed to have with her!
The day started off like any other for teacher Bobbi Nabors, but then it took a turn she was not expecting. She regularly checks her students’ backpack for weapons and drugs, and she was doing this one day when she came upon quite a surprise.

When Nabors got to one female students’ bag, she felt in her gut that something was off about it. When she undid the zipper, the teacher was stunned to see two eyes peering back at her!
It turns out that the little girl had brought her puppy Jake to school after deciding the animal was too cute to leave home alone. The puppy was eager to get out and play when the second grade teacher found him.

When Nabors confronted the little girl, she had the perfect response.
“My mom must’ve put him in there,” she said sweetly.
Instead of punishing the little girl, Nabors allowed the class to pass Jake around, and he quickly became the star of the day!

Eventually, Nabors called the girl’s mother and she came to pick the puppy up.
“Mom was all smiles,” Nabors said afterwards. “How could you not be? She said she’d bring Jake back to visit us all soon! He’s now the poster boy for our upcoming spring book fair, ‘Paws for a Good Book!’”
How sweet is that?!
