Carlos Neria, is known as Mr. Joyous at his high school in Midland, Texas. He is one of eight children, but his mom, Teresa, calls him a blessing. When it came time for Carlos to graduate from high school, he stole the show with his infectious enthusiasm.
Teresa says she found out she was pregnant with Carlos when she went to get sterilized. “He’s given us an example of sharing, of love, of happiness,” said Teresa. “Nothing gets him down. He looks up and points to God. God. He’s full of faith. Lots of faith.”
On his graduation day from Lee High School, the 19-year-old teen is dancing in excitement when it is almost his turn to cross the stage. He greets each of his teachers with a handshake and hug. His joyful energy is so infectious that one of the faculty members begins jumping along with Carlos.

The Midland Independent School District was so excited about Carlos’ reaction that they shared the video of the happy moment. It has been shared more than 56,000 times on Facebook. “One of the greatest things about being part of graduation is celebrating the accomplishments of our students,” the school said in a statement.
“We wanted to share a video with you of a very special graduate, Carlos Neria, who danced across the stage with the greatest joy and enthusiasm as he received his high school diploma,” the post said. “We are so proud of you Carlos and proud of all of our 2018 graduates!”
