Pit bulls may have a bad reputation, but this story proves that not all bullies deserve the stigma that surrounds them. If it wasn’t for this particular pit bull pup, one family might possibly be short one member of their family.

Latana Chai, a mother from California, says her 7-month-old daughter, Masailah, was sleeping inside the house when the unthinkable happened. A blaze from the neighbors house had spread into her home and was just feet away from her baby.

Sasha, and 8-month-old pit bull who was born within days of her daughter, has a bond with the little girl that literally saved her life. Sasha began barking and banging at the back door to their yard just before midnight. The barks were so frantic that Latana immediately knew something was wrong.

The strange behavior that Sasha was displaying wasn’t normal for her mild-mannered pup. She ran downstairs and opened the back door to check on Sasha. She immediately ran into the house and down the hallway. That’s when Latana looked up and saw black smoke and flames pouring from her neighbor’s house.

The fire was spreading from her neighbor’s home into her own home. Latana ran back inside the house to get baby Masailah, but Sasha had already rescued the baby. She was holding the baby by her diaper and dragging her off her bed.

“Sasha saved everybody,” Latana said. “Because if it wasn’t for her, I don’t think that any of us in this complex would have known anything.”
