In 2015, a three-year-old little boy went missing from a San Francisco library. Thanks to one quick thinking bus driver, the little boy was able to return home to his parents unharmed.

Tim Watson, a Valley Transportation Authority bus driver says he noticed a man and a boy on his bus who resembled the description of the child and suspect. To begin with, Tim didn’t think much of the situation, but then he noticed the little boy was crying.

That got Tim’s attention, and the father, who has two kids of his own, says his fatherly instincts kicked in. Tim pulled the bus over and started asking passengers if they’d seen a missing backpack. It was all part of his plan to get a closer look at the boy and the man to see if his suspicions were correct.

When Tim walked to the back of the bus and saw red crocs and plaid shorts, as described in the news, he knew his suspicions were spot on. As he continued searching for the backpack, Tim secretly called the police.

When the bus finally arrived at the station, police officers were waiting. The 23-year-old suspect stepped off the bus with the missing three-year-old boy in his arms and police immediately arrested him.

They said they had to nearly pry the boy out of his arms before they were able to take the man into custody. The boy appeared to have no injuries.

When Tim learned that his instincts were spot on, that’s when he realized that it could have been his own child and broke down. “This could have been my child that was abducted,” he said. “I feel I did what any father would do.”
