Officer Roger Caron is a man who enjoys his job as a special law enforcement officer at Pascack Hills High School, and during his time there, he’s gotten used to being in charge.

When Caron showed up for work one recent morning, he had no idea that things were about to take a startling turn. As he was walking the halls making his usual rounds, he noticed 18-year-old Sarah Bazzini acting strangely. As he watched her stumble and move quickly, he immediately knew that something was not right.

The closer he got to Sarah, the more obvious it became that something was very wrong with her.

He had no idea that Sarah had just stuffed a piece of food in her mouth in a rush to finish her lunch and head to class, and that this food had since become lodged in her throat. She was desperately trying to cough it out, but was unable to do so, and her life was now seriously in danger.

With every step she took, Sarah got weaker and weaker, and panic started to set in. That’s when she noticed Caron.

Sarah motioned to the officer that something was stuck in her throat, and he immediately leapt to action. Running over to her, Caron performed the Heimlich maneuver, dislodging the french fry after a few thrusts.

Sarah is incredibly grateful to Caron, and believes he is a hero who saved her life.

Caron and Sarah are now close friends, and she can’t stop thanking him for what he did! She believes it was divine intervention that he was put in the hallway that day to save her.
