When 8 year-old Jaron Johnson found a $100 bill in a local grocery store, he was ecstatic, but not for the reason you’re expecting.

Jaron was not happy to find the bill so that he could spend the money, he was instead happy that he could give it back to the man who lost it!

Jaron was shopping with his mother Jodie at their local Walmart when he noticed something green lying on the floor. As soon as he picked up the object, he realized it was a $100 bill!

It turns out that 86-year-old James Grice had dropped the cash while he was shopping moments before. He had only realized he dropped the money when he went to pay for his groceries, and he had to leave the store empty handed because he had no other money on him.

As a senior citizen who relies on a fixed retirement income, James has trouble making ends meet, so losing the money was a massive blow to him.

Jaron gave the money to his mother and reminded her to call Walmart to try and find the person who dropped it.

“I gave it to my mom and then the next day when we woke up I reminded her to call Walmart to see if anyone reported it,” Jaron said.

Though Jodie is a special education teacher, this was one of the most inspiring moments she had ever witnessed.

“When I walked outside of the store I said lord let somebody that really needs that money, find it. When I turn things over to the Lord, I don’t fool with it anymore,” she said. ““We talked about it on the way home, you know, people work hard for their money. I was immediately proud of him. He’s a great kid, he has amazing character. He does the right thing even when no one is looking.”

Jodie never even had to suggest to Jaron that he should give the money back, he came to that conclusion on his own!

“It was on his heart to make sure it got back to the rightful owner,” Jodie said.

When Jodie called Walmart, they realized that James’ money had been found!

Later that day, Jaron, Jodie, and James met at the Walmart, and the little boy gave the elderly man his money back!

“Knowing that he was on fixed income made the lesson that much more valuable. I told him ‘look how much you helped him and how much he appreciates it,’” Jodie recalled.

As a thank you to Jaron, James gave him a $20 finder’s reward and a couple of fresh tomatoes, because the little boy absolutely loves those.

“That child right there, he’s 100 percent to me,” James said.

This is one amazing little boy!
