Craig Wells decided he wanted to take his family out to dinner one night, so he brought them to a noodle house called Wagamamas. As they ate their meal, Craig looked up and noticed something bizarre.

Craig noticed a man walking down the street who looked to be in poor shape. The man looked hopeless, as his clothing was ruined and disheveled. The man seemed to be homeless, and he didn’t even have shoes on his feet.

Though Craig was in the middle of eating, he dropped everything and ran outside to the man.

“Immediately, I ran outside to catch him,” Craig said.

Instead of confronting the man, Craig tried to make friends with him and learned his name was Mark. When Craig asked Mark what his shoe size was, he was shocked to learn they had the same one.

“Coincidence? I think not?” Craig later wrote.

Though Craig was wearing his favorite pair of shoes, he took them off and gave them to Mark, who was so touched by this gesture that he began to cry.

“(He) gave me the biggest hug saying how nobody has ever been so kind,” Craig recalled.

When Craig went back inside the restaurant, he noticed that Mark was still crying outside. The restaurant allowed him to keep eating there despite their “no shirt, no shoes, no service” rule.

After leaving the restaurant, Craig hugged Mark and told him that God loved him and that he would be in his family’s prayers for the night.

“We got emotional and parted ways. I then proceeded to walk around Nottingham with just my socks on,” Craig said.

Craig shared what happened on social media in the hopes that it will inspire others to carry out acts of kindness.

“What I do want is people to recognize that love is the greatest gift we have been given. It was given to us freely and freely we should give it away,” Craig concluded.
