The U.S. Department of Agriculture just recalled 228,000 pounds of Spam as well as one other product that is made by Minnesota-based company Hormel after four customers found medal objects in their food.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service explained that the canned chicken and pork in which the medal was found was produced back in February at a factory in Fremont, Nebraska. Hormel said that they issued the recall after they “received four consumer complaints stating that metal objects were found in the canned products,” with reports of only “minor oral injuries.”

Specifically, the recall is for 12-ounce metal that contain “SPAM Classic” with a “Best By” date of February 2021 date. The products were shipped all over the U.S.

The recall is also for 12-ounce metal cans of “Hormel Foods Black-Label Luncheon Loaf” with a “Best By” date of February 2021. This product was shipped only to Guam, with production codes F02098 and F02108.

If you have bought spam at all in the past few months, be sure to check your pantry and shelves to see if you purchased any of these recalled products. If you find that you have purchased any of these items, you should either throw them away or return them to wherever you purchased them.
