Our servicemen and women make huge sacrifices to protect our freedoms. Being in the military means long days and nights of service away from those whom servicemen and women love the most.

The men and women who serve in the U.S. military understand that the honor of serving is too high to give up for the simple comforts of family life, no matter how tempting that may be. Lt. Michael Lemmons of the United States Navy is one such servicemen who exhibits this level of devotion to his country.

Lemmons and 27 of his fellow crew members were excitedly waiting to return home to meet their newborn children after spending months at sea. Since they had spent so long away from home, all they wanted to do was meet their children.

When Lemmons saw his wife waiting for him on the dock, he could not help but run over to meet her. She was holding their son in her arms, and Lemmons was so overwhelmed that he could not help but blurt out his thoughts. Looking right at his wife, Lemmons said, “He’s perfect. Thank you.”

Hearing this after spending months raising their baby alone was too much for his wife to handle, and she could not help but burst into tears! This moment was all his wife had dreamed of the entire time Lemmons was away!
