Army Lt. Col. Robert Risdon was stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia, and has stopped in a local Taco Bell to grab some dinner.

He was sitting down to eat when two young boys, ages 9 and 13, walked into the restaurant.

The boys weren’t there to eat, but were there selling homemade desserts for the church for a fundraiser.

The boys looked cold and wet.

Risdon couldn’t help but wonder if the boys had eaten anything themselves.

Not able to ignore his gut instinct, he asked the boys if they’d had anything for dinner yet.

The boys said that hadn’t, and what happened next caught the attention of another customer who managed to catch the event on camera.

Risdon is a father himself, and so he took the boys to the counter and told them he would buy them dinner so they could sit down and warm up and dry off a bit.

The customer who caught it on camera posted the video to his Facebook page and said whether they’re battling overseas or helping us out at home, soldiers are always taking care of us.

Risdon says he was happy to help the kids, but is embarrassed by the praise. “I’m kinda embarrassed and humbled by the praise and don’t need it,” said Risdon.

“I am a believer that we live in the best country in the world with the best people and that acts of kindness happen every day.”
