Sometimes, it seems like people come into our lives for a greater purpose that we may not see right away. This is what happened with Angela Nguyen, a pizza delivery driver who had gotten to know frequent customer Lee Haase over the years.

Angela had been delivering pizza to his home on the outskirts of Anoka County for years, as he regularly placed an order every Saturday. However, things were about to change for Lee due to an unforeseen series of events that nobody was expecting.

After a huge storm rocked the area, Lee’s home became uninhabitable, as most of his roof was taken out by it. This was particularly heartbreaking for him since he had just lost his son in a snowmobile accident. Devastated by everything that had happened, Lee moved into 12-foot camper to live alone.

When Angela’s daughter Sarah, who also delivers pizzas, noticed the condition of his home, she decided to talk to her mom about it. Angela was stunned to learn that Lee was living in a camper with no heat, no plumbing and no electricity, and she knew she had to do something.

“I thought we got to do something. We got to do something. We can’t let a human being live like this,” she said.

First, Angela bought a heater for Lee with her own money. Then, she created a GoFundMe page for him, and donations immediately started pouring in! In just two months time, $32,000 had been raised to buy Lee a home!

Angela said she never could have made all of this happen without the support of her community.

“Every single one of us enjoyed doing this. This ain’t all for Lee. We all benefited,” she said.
