Carlos Sepeda Jr. and his wife Tammy decided to go out to eat with his mother-in-law Jill Jones one day in the hopes of forgetting their troubles. The family was going through a very difficult time, as they had just been displaced from their Friendswood home by Hurricane Harvey.

The Sepedas were forced to leave all their belongings behind as they fled while their home quickly filled with water.

As the family ate dinner in Sam’s Restaurant in Fairfield, Texas, they chatted with waitress Mary Gough, who was touched by their story. When Mary learned just how desperate the Sepedas’ situation really was, she knew she had to take action.

Just as the Sepedas were leaving, Mary handed a folded note to Tammy, who waited until she was in the parking lot to read it. The contents of the note left the couple completely stunned!

“This isn’t much compared to your loss. Buy you something special. God bless – my prayers are w/u,” the note read.

Mary had included a $100 bill in the note, much to the Sepedas’ surprise!

Carlos and Tammy ran back inside the restaurant to try and give the money back to Mary, but she wouldn’t hear of it! She explained that she had prayed about it and knew that giving them the money was the right thing to do.

“This is how I know Texas is great!” Carlos said as he shared the story on Facebook, where the post quickly went viral.

This serves as a reminder of what a huge difference we can all make in the life of someone else! SHARE this story so your friends and family can see this as well!
