A farmer was out for a walk on the island of Orkney in Scotland when he came upon a stone that looked to be out of place. When he moved the stone aside, he discovered something that he was never expecting to find.

The farmer moved the stone only to find that it was covering a house buried underground. Unbeknownst to the farmer, he had just discovered the lost city of Skara Brae, which is believed to be one of the oldest settlements in Great Britain!

The lost city of Skara Brae is believed to be 5,000 years old, meaning it dates back to the pyramids!

Since the city was covered in sand dunes, it is one of the most well preserved historic finds that has ever been discovered.

Eight houses were especially well preserved, and they are believed to have held around 50-100 people inside them.

A waterproof basin was discovered in the middle of each home, and this is where experts believe fish were kept that were about to be eaten by those who lived there. The homes are all connected by underground tunnels, and each one had a large stone in front of their entrances for privacy.
