Amy Buchan Kavelaras was going through some old boxes with her grandma Ruth in order to help the elderly woman move when they came across something that had been hidden away for years.

Amy was able to convince Ruth to take the item out of the box and try it on after all these years, and the photo of this incredible moment is now going viral.

Amy shared the photo of her grandmother on Facebook, never thinking that it would touch the hearts of so many people.

“While packing up my grammy’s house to move her into an assisted living facility next month, we found her wedding dress in her attic!” she wrote alongside the image. “63 years later she tried it on and it still fits!”

“This is a picture of her holding her original wedding photo from 1953,” Amy continued. “My mom (their daughter) is taking this picture and you can see her face reflecting off the glass. My Grandma Ruth stayed married to my Grandpa Jack his entire life, until he died in 2000. She misses him every day. They had a love that spanned the ages. People should know this kind of love is real and is worth waiting for.”

Losing her husband was incredibly difficult for Ruth, so it was very brave of her to try on this dress after all these decades had gone by. We have to say that she looks just as beautiful in her wedding dress now as she did when she wore it in 1953!
