A new story is going viral on social media that shows that God always has a plan for each of us.

A teenage boy lived alone with his father, and the two shared a bond that was both special and strong. Even though his son always sat on the bench when playing football, his father always cheered him on regardless at every game. The boy was the smallest in his class when he entered high school, but his dad always encouraged him to still play football.

The boy loved football and was determined to stay on the team, thinking that if he kept working hard, he might finally be able to play during his senior year. Though he never missed a game, the teenager remained a bench warmer throughout his four years of high school.

When he got into college, the teenager tried out for the team as a “walk on.” Nobody thought he would make the team, but he did! The coach said he put him on the team because he always puts his heart and soul into football.

His dad came to every one of his football games, and though the boy worked hard in practice, he remained on the bench for his four years of college. His team was preparing for their big playoff game his senior year when he arrived at practice only to have his coach give him a telegram.

“My father died this morning. Is it all right if I miss practice today?” the boy mumbled sadly.

“Take the rest of the week off son,” the coach said as he patted his shoulder. “And don’t even plan to come back to the game on Saturday.”

Saturday finally rolled around, and the playoff game was not going well. The team was ten points behind in the third quarter when the boy entered the locker room and put on his uniform.

“Coach please let me play. I’ve just got to play today,” said the young man.

The coach pretended not to hear him, as he did not want to play his worst player during the playoff game. The young man begged, however, and the coach finally relented as he began to feel sorry for him.

“All right,” said the coach. “You can go in.”

The coach and the rest of the stadium were stunned when the young man started playing like a star! The other team could not stop him as he ran, passed, blocked and tackled like a pro. The score was soon tied up, and in the final seconds of the game, the kid intercepted a pass and ran all the way for the winning touchdown. His team hoisted him on their shoulders as the entire crowd cheered!

After the game, the coach noticed that the boy was sitting alone in the locker room after everyone else left.

“Kid, I can’t believe it. You were fantastic! Tell me what got into you? How did you do it?” the coach said.

“Well, you knew my dad died, but you didn’t know that my dad was blind,” the boy said with tears in his eyes. “Dad came to all my games, but today was the first time he could see me play, and I wanted to show him I could do it!”
