If you’ve ever wondered if most women prefer a man with a beard or not, today we’ve got the answer. Some 8,250 women were surveyed and every single one of them admitted to preferring a man with at least some facial hair whether it be a little bit of scruff or a full on beard.

The study was published in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology and said that women see men with beards as being more trustworthy and better relationship material than clean-shaven men. Other suggestions are that men with beards appear more established and ready to settle down.

Strong jawlines and other typical masculine features can come across as off putting to some women and experts say a beard may hide some of those features and given men a softer appearance making them more attractive to women.

We all know that beards are becoming increasingly popular with websites and social media dedicated to men and growing beards. Women were pretty specific though that even if a man has a big beard, it should still be well groomed and maintained to be attractive.

If beards aren’t your thing, the study also indicated that men with deep voices are considered masculine and more attractive. So if you can’t or don’t want to grow a beard, just try dropping your voice an octave or two and see if that helps draw in the ladies.
