Mothers everywhere know that there is nothing sweeter than hearing your children laugh, or hearing them say “I love you.” Sadly, Sarah Churman is a mother-of-two who is not able to hear the sound of her children’s precious laughter because she was born deaf.

Sarah was missing out on so many life experiences by not being able to hear, which is why she was overjoyed when she heard that a new implant had been developed that could give her the ability to hear!

Though this new technology is amazing, it is also incredibly expensive, costing $30,000 per ear. Sarah could not afford this, and as hard as she tried to figure out a way with her husband to work their budget to buy the implant, she decided she could not do it.

Sarah and her husband Sloan got the shock of their lives when her mother-in-law stepped in to buy one of the ear implants for her!

Video of Sarah having the implant put in for the first time went viral, as it showed many of us how precious something we take for granted like hearing can be.

Sarah’s mother-in-law was not wealthy, but as a mother herself, she could not bare the thought of Sarah never getting to hear the sounds of her children’s first words and giggles. That’s why she decided to use money from her retirement fund to buy one of the implants for Sarah.

When television host Ellen DeGeneres saw the viral video of Sarah and heard the story behind it, she knew she had to have her on her show. Sarah thought she was going on the show just to tell her story, but she had no idea Ellen had a special life-changing surprise for her!
