Every parent looks forward to the moment their baby says their first word, and Briana Blankenship was no different. Unfortunately, she wasn’t sure that her daughter Taylor’s first words would ever happen, so when they did, it was an almost unbelievable moment for her.

Doctors had diagnosed Taylor with nonverbal autism, meaning that Taylor doesn’t communicate with speech. Taylor understands some of the language that is spoken to her, but had been told that she would never come up with her own words.

One day while waiting in the drive-thru line at McDonald’s, five-year-old Taylor shocked her mom when she heard Taylor say “Mama.” Briana couldn’t believe what she was hearing, but after hearing Taylor say the words softly the first time, she got out her phone and recorded it again and again as Taylor smiled and said Mama.

Briana says the workers at McDonald’s probably thought she was crazy because by the time she reached the window to get their order she was crying the biggest happy tears ever. “I can’t explain how unbelievably grateful and ecstatic I am right now,” said Briana.

This is proof that sometimes life has other things in store for us that we think will never happen. What an amazing gift for Briana and Taylor to get to finally hear those precious first words. Watch the magical video below. It’s sure to bring a happy smile to your face.
