Flying with youngsters or babies can be an absolute nightmare. Not only do parents have to deal with their little ones crying and wiggling at 30,000 feet in the air, but they also have to deal with the stares and judgements of other passengers if their children or babies don’t behave perfectly.

These busy little bodies like to kick the seat in front of them and make noises. They’re not meant to just sit back and be quiet for too long. This makes it extremely hard to travel far with these tots. But one airline has come up with a solution that may make it much easier for parents to travel with their kids, bring relief not just to the kids and parents, but other passengers as well.

Air New Zealand has come up with a new feature on their economy flights and they claim the invention makes traveling with kids not only easier, but even fun. While this may sound like an impossible claim, you might change your mind when you see what this innovation is all about.

It’s called the New Zealand Air Skycouch, and although it’s been around a few years, it hasn’t really been marketed much. This innovation gives parents more freedom to travel with their kids, so instead of buying extra tickets to give your kids more room, or worse yet, driving, parents just need to purchase one row of seats.

The Skycouch is laid out on the row of seats and even comes with a harness for infants, belt, and a pod. This means that your little ones can move around and doesn’t have to stay on your lap the entire flight. It also lets infants safely sleep on their backs while being harnessed in for safety.

The pod feature allows infants and toddlers up to 30 pounds the ability to enjoy a comfortable bassinet that attaches to the window, and far away from passengers. This lets parents stretch out across the seat and grab some shut eye too while the baby is asleep.

While you might think the Skycouch is something that you could never afford, that’s not the case. It is part of the airline’s economy program. Parents traveling with little ones simply need to just ask the airline and they can use the Skycouch. When they’re on board, the flight attendants will deliver the parents a tutorial on how to use it so they and their kids can travel safely.
