Deanna Feist and her husband are natives of Brandon, Florida, so when they heard that Hurricane Irma was going to devastate their region, they immediately hit the road.

Deanna and her husband ended up in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee as they escaped the category 5 hurricane. Because they were so far from home, the couple went into panic mode when their vehicle broke down.

The couple had just stopped at The Old Mill restaurant for lunch when all of the lights on their car’s dashboard came on. Deanna’s husband shut the car down, but the vehicle would not start up again. They asked a man in another car to help jump-start their vehicle and Deanna reported he “happily helped us out.”

As this was happening, Deanna ran inside to put them on a waitlist for a table. The restaurant’s manager Mo Tamaddoni had seen what was happening and assured them he’d seat them quickly so they could seek help for their vehicle.

Deanna and her husband were quickly seated and enjoyed a nice meal at the restaurant. When they asked for their bill, however, their waitress placed a strange envelope on their table that was not the bill.

“(She) said it was from the manager, and that our meals were on the house. Inside was a voucher for free meals, $200 cash and a letter,” Deanna later wrote on Facebook.

The letter read:

“You are probably here to escape the Hurricane Irma. My brother lives in Tallahassee, Florida. I am saddened to see such devastation in this beautiful state. I hope everything will turn out okay for you guys. Enclosed please accept my gift to you in case you need to buy a battery for your car. Also, I am enclosing a meal ticket so you can come back to eat here. Good luck and thanks for visiting my restaurant.”

Deanna and her husband could not believe this beautiful act of generosity!

“This act of selflessness and generosity has touched my heart … I promise I will pay it forward! This man is a Godsend!” Deanna wrote.
