For one 15-year-old at Andrews High School in Texas, it was just another day at football practice. But when he realized that the man walking in front of the players was his dad, he couldn’t believe his eyes.

The boy’s dad credits his wife for planning the surprise, and says he’s just glad to be home. He’ll be able to watch his son graduate and watch his two younger children continue to grow. He says there will be no more deployments and he won’t have to be away from them any more.

In the video, the dad is seen standing quietly behind the football players. His son clearly has no idea that his dad is there. Eventually, the dad steps out in front of his son as the other players clap when the two embrace.

The son says he didn’t even know what to think. He thought his dad was coming home the next month, and instead, he was standing right there in front of them. He stated he just kind of went into shock.

The people who commented on the video of the reunion say it was a beautiful video and they love getting to watch videos like this. Others thanked the father for his service and told the son he has a real life hero.
