Christy Stone and her husband have five children, two of whom struggle with muscular dystrophy and one of them relies on a ventilator to help him breath. So when the power to their home was shut off, Christy knew she didn’t have a choice but to call 911 and get help for her boys.

Christy says Tyler and Troy are the youngest members of the family, but because of their severe medical conditions, the family struggles to make ends meet due to the medical bills they have to pay. When the electricity was shut off, Christy knew they couldn’t pay the bill and the only hope she had was to call 911.

The ventilator had a backup battery, but the battery would only last so long before her son would be in big trouble. When Clinton Town firefighters received the call, they were the first to respond to Christy’s plea for help. What they found when they arrived at the house shocked them.

The responding firemen didn’t know exactly how to handle the predicament they had found themselves in, but one fireman listened compassionately to Christy as she explained the dire situation. She explained that the family owed more than $1,000 to the electric company and they couldn’t pay that bill due to their son’s medical bills.
